Thankful for my life

There are so many things all of us can be thankful for, how can any of us write only 500- 750 words? As the Thanksgiving Holiday has come and went I have pondered many times what I am thankful for. The big stuff it goes without saying- I am thankful to be an American, worship God in a way I chose to, and be free. I am thankful I live in the South, near a beach and have nice weather most of the year. I am thankful for our troops and everyone who sacrifices for what we have.

Then there is the stuff I take for granted--and I am thankful I have been so blessed that I sometimes forget not everyone has these blessings. I am thankful for my large family that seems to be growing every year—Thanksgiving dinner might have been viewed as chaos by some but wonderful for me as 17 people gather for the holiday, and that did not include the clan in Maryland that is another 7 people or my brother who had to work that day. I take for granted my job that I complain about but it offers a good salary and benefits, and I work with people I actually like.

I have friends I might not talk to everyday, but I know I could count on if I ever needed them. These things are a part of my life, I feel like they are a given. I am thankful I feel like that.

But I think most of all—I am thankful that Walt Disney was right. He said, “All of our dreams can come true...”

Our Castle
My Prince Charming came to my rescue riding a white horse (actually it was a Jeep Compass or a Yamaha Virago depending on the weather) he swept me off my feet and we rode into the sunset and lived happily ever after. I am actually living the fairy tale (the modern fairy tale). I have found the man of my dreams and we have made each other’s dreams come true. He encouraged me to go back to school, I am graduating this month, go Mountaineers! He bought us a castle and we travel the world to see what there is to see! We have been to Europe, Florida and California to see Cinderella’s and Sleeping Beauty’s castles. My Prince Charming says I have opened up his eyes and let him dream again to be a kid and have dreams. I have shown him how to slay the dragon and have fun too! We are building his empire together! I have shown him it is okay to be liberal and still be a CPA.  We have created a wonderful kingdom in Leland, NC with our two puppies Yoyo and Tasha and our two kitties Sal and Toola. I can no longer imagine life without him.
