After reading the chapter in the book what had caught my eye what the fact that social media was used so much during the last presidential election. I am not the type of person to keep up with the news or all the political stuff on social media. I really only keep up with family on social media, and have more recently since moving to the Washington. So, when they were talking about how many people viewed Obama’s page or liked his page verses McCain I was shocked. I did not realize that millions were following or liked Obama’s page verses the thousands that liked or followed McCain. Even the wives of both these gentlemen had the difference between how many were following one verses the other.
The other thing that had caught my eye was the fact that the amount of people that viewed there YouTube speeches or videos that were posted up. I understand this is how it works, it’s about getting your name out there in a positive way so people will vote for you but the amount of viewers and followers, I think it is crazy. I have voted, and I have watched a little about these gentlemen on TV prior to the election but nowhere near extent that some were. However, I do care who runs the country I live in but the stocker, Amber Lee Ettinger that loved Obama was crazy. I guess I really didn’t see a lot this political stuff comes up on my news feed when the elections were going around.

  1. I did my blog on this subject too - I do sorta pay attention to politics and am not an Obama supporter, but I found this chapter interesting. I guess his campaign people were smart to use SM like they did and apparently it made a huge difference in the election.
