Staying in touch with my household!

Staying in touch with my household!

I think staying in touch with everyone in your house is very important. It doesn't always happen but in your mind and heart you try the best way you know how. I use Social Media all the time to stay in touch with family and friends daily. I also use it to shoot my wife messages. My daughter is 22 months old and even knows how to work stuff on my iphone to an extent. Don't get me wrong I use Social Media with the best of them but the past few weeks has really gave me an understanding that staying in touch with your household doesn't always mean using Social Media. I have requested that when we are home that we will not use Social Media to take time away from our family relationship time. It has even taken stress off this way by not worrying about E-Mails or what we have to do tomorrow or worried about what is trending right now! I agree with Chapter 2 that it can help keep tabs on your family by knowing, "whereabouts and activities of your children or spouses" (Qualman, Page 30), but you have to keep balance in family relationship that can help if you start it early. My daughter not even 2 yet gives me time to build that bond and keep it while she grows up and knowing we spend family time when we come through the front door.

  1. I agree with you, Michael, social media is a wonder tool for keeping in touch with family and friends who are away from us, but there is a time and place for it. Nothing aggravates me more than trying to talk to my husband and look over and he's typing away on his IPad :( grrrrr - I know I'm guilty of it too, but we sometimes get obsessed - we just need to use it "responsibly" like everything else. Very good post and nice photo :)
