A right not a privilege

There were several surprising facts in the video concerning the mobile society and sadly to say there were several facts that I was not surprised at all.  The mobile phone has a social norm for much of the world.  For the United States it has become almost a “must have” compared to a “privilege to have” item.  The phone is falling into the same category as clean water and police protection, which can be seen because of the lack of reaction when 20 states offer welfare recipients free cell phones.

The biggest surprise that did stand out to me was how much the mobile communication was getting used compared to the percentage that companies are putting into it.  Social media continues to grow as technology is finding ways to combine the laptop computer and mobile phone which leads me to believe that companies have to get on board with this trend.  Social media developers find ways to continue to meet the new supply and demand based on phone applications that are projected to hit 89 billion will be downloaded within the next two years according to some sources.  American business is based on the factors of “how much,” meaning if we are not growing or making money something is wrong.  It is clear that older companies must find a way to become a part of the mobile industry to promote their products or services.  It is also clear that newer companies need to have social media plans and mobile plans as part of their business plan to remain completive in the world.
