I was amazed to learn that iphone sales outpace births - really? I knew that iphones were popular but never thought of it in those terms. The fact that more people own a mobile phone than a toothbrush is unbelievable. I, alone, have 3 toothbrushes!!
90% of tweets are from mobile phones sounds low to me. I actually thought it'd be closer to 100%. I liked Qualman's quote "not properly investing in mobile is akin to buying a teacup to sail around the world." Everything is social media today and I believe you have to have a presence to be competitive. When people are looking for goods and services, they search the web - if you don't have a presence, your competition will get your business. People love to share what they love and what they hate - it's not enough to just have a presence, you have to be competitive and provide a quality product at a reasonable price and provide excellent customer service. If you don't , everyone will know it and tell it!
I went into the "iphone world" kicking and screaming. I never used my phone, wasn't on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or anything. I used my mobile phone only as a phone and nothing else. Then my husband made me get one. Now, I love it. I joined Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and several others. I keep notes and dates in my phone and if I lost it, I'd be lost! As frustrating as it is to see people attached to their iphones at all times, I do see the necessity of it - it is a technical, social media world and you have to be part of it or get left behind - if you can't beat 'em, join 'em!
