The fact that less than one percent
of business spending is in mobile, is astonishing to me. At times there seems to
be a glut of apps put out by companies and that so many of our free apps are
supported by the advertising dollars the apps draws in.

I really
enjoy miscellaneous facts and blurbs like was given in this video, except when
it is on financial topic. Such statistics, I feel need more data, to put them
in proper perspective. I feel that this figure that can be skewed in many ways,
with the ability of many devices to render a normal website, having a modern website
and host often provides the company with a mobile site. In such cases,
technically there was no spending on the mobile site, since it comes as part
the expense of maintaining the primary site.
I find this is likely true with mobile advertising as well, the company
pays for internet ads, many times the ads will be seen on mobile device as
well, and again it was not funds allocated specifically to mobile, but are part
of the presence.
I agree
that mobile should be a priority, app development in particular. Many companies
use cookie cutter apps and often the consumer is disappointed. On the other
hand, a few builds or commissions an app that enhances the user’s relationship
with the company and is desirable to use over a mobile browser, those that do
this will win out over their competitors who do not.
Let me be
clear, I do not doubt that the numbers in the video are true, I just prefer to
know more about the data that provided the values.

Ahh, the truth. It's almost whimsical.
