Top 10 Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware Programs (That I Use:)

Top Ten Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware programs (that I use)

The world is craving faster and faster connections to their computers and mobile devices.  Not all that long ago a dial-up connection was a perk that most people did not have.  But times change and we are constantly connected to “the web” and with those connections and faster downloads, comes all of those unwanted programs as well.  Most people do not know the difference between malware and a virus.  Here it is in my own words, malware is a program or programs that hinder the performance of your computer (like advertisements or continuous pop-ups or programs running in the background).  A virus is a program that corrupts the core of your computer.  It may delete files, change file permissions, put in programs that keep other programs from working.  Here is my top ten list of tools I use to get rid either annoyance.

1.  Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (free or paid version)
     2.  Super Antispyware (free)
     3.  TDS Root Killer (free)
     4.  RougeKiller (free)
    5.  Unhider (free)
    6.  Viper (free)
    7.  Spybot Search and Destroy (free)
    8.  TrendMicro AntiVirus (free or paid)
    9.  McAfee AntiVirus (Paid)
   10. Norton AntiVirus (Paid)
I placed my favorite tools at number 1 and went down in priority from there.  As you can see I am a fan of free tools.  I feel that the internet is such a large place and there is so much great software out there, that if there is a free version I am going to use it.  Most of the tools at the top help remove the problems that you may have on your computer and the last three help prevent.  If you are not sure what you are doing some of these tools can damage your computer, so if use caution and only run programs if you know what you are looking for and be certain of the files you allow it to remove.

  1. Great list, a little surprised AVG did not make your list, either the free or the paid versions. Excellent of words of caution, I have seen people do more harm than good trying to fix an issue they had no understanding of.

  2. Thanks for the list, it can get confusing when trying to find a good antivirus program.
